Web Design Process
The Mysterious Web Design Process…
is actually not mysterious at all. We just know what we’re doing.
It takes insight, experience, dedication and discipline to build successful websites. At DeviceMedia we have developed the most efficient steps to building your business online. The first step to any project we take on is an initial discovery meeting wherein the team members identify measurable goals and ask specific questions about site functionality, site purpose and how the company wishes to be perceived on the Web. From there, we proceed to the proposal stage that details timetable, web flow, process and project cost.
1. Site Definition
We initially start with a free consultation and work with you to determine your needs and assess the project’s scope. From here the team defines clear-cut goals and develops a formal proposal that includes scope, responsibilities, timetable and cost estimate.
2. Design Conception
After the requirements of the website are finalized we create the site design based on the goals from the initial consultation. This step produces design samples representing the navigation, functionality, and design of the site. Once the design is approved, the production stage begins.
3. Technical Engineering
This work is divided among a core team of designers and programmers. The design is converted to html and site structure is coded. Any additional features such as database development, Flash animation and other functionality will be integrated at this stage. In cases where a site may require frequent updating, content management systems are implemented that allow administrators to input fresh content without prior knowledge of HTML.
4. Publishing
The last phase involves testing all applications for cross-platform (interested in mobile web design?) and browser compatibility. In simple terms, we make sure your website works on both Mac’s and PC’s as well as all of the prevalent versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape. Once testing is complete, we launch the website and, if requested, submit it to all major search engines.
